we’re definitely screwed
if you don’t want to hear more about iraq, you’re in the wrong place. as long as our government insists on occupying a foreign nation under false pretenses, I’m going to keep questioning it.
the latest news appears to be an exercise in pretend-math.
Between 50 and 60 attacks are carried out each day, the same number as in 2004, according to Gen Richard Myers, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.
sooo… okay, there have been the same number of “insurgent” attacks as there were last year. normally, you’d expect this to mean that the situation hasn’t changed. I mean, over an entire year, there hasn’t been any kind of decrease from these 50 or 60 daily attacks. that’s still a hell of a lot, even spread across an entire country. so things are at a stalemate, right?
oh no, not when it comes to operation: blow-smoke-up-your-ass.
I’m going to say this – I think we are winning, okay. I think we’re definitely winning. I think we’ve been winning for some time.
so if we’re winning, dick – if I can call you dick – why are there people (american and iraqi) still dying every day? why aren’t our troops back home so the iraqis can “finish the job”? if we’re winning, where the hell is bin laden? where are the nukes? and why couldn’t we catch that other jackass if we’re doing so well?
if that wasn’t bad enough, the administration is still spouting the same “we’ll stand back and watch you finish our mess” talk as before.
The view from Washington is that success in Iraq now depends on the new government in Baghdad and whether or not it can entrench itself and become a cause that Iraqis will deem worth fighting for, our correspondent said.
Mr Rumsfeld said he did not believe it would be the efforts of US and coalition forces that proved decisive in the battle against the insurgents.
“The people that are going to defeat that insurgency are going to be the Iraqis,” he said.
while it may be admirable to let the iraqis fight for their own country and ideals, telling them to do it for a government we created doesn’t do shit for motivation.

If they really wanted to make progress catching Terrorists then they would send Keefer Sutherland to Iraq, he could fix everything in only one day. On the other hand he did carry out the order for a code red at Gitmo, and that’s bad considering the Abu Grahib scandal.
