what will stop working next?

I’ve been without a functioning air conditioner for the past 2 weeks now, ever since getting back from toledo. I was given a choice last friday between ordering a part that was backordered for 3 weeks, or replacing the entire unit. I sure as hell didn’t want to wait another month (it’s been bad enough with the 90-degree/80% humidity weather), and the original a/c unit was already 12 years old (typical lifetime is supposed to be 15 years). so I chose the latter. total cost $750.

a change will do you good.

this site is starting to annoy me. especially the code. I put together the layout when I was first learning CSS, so it’s a goddamn mess in there. still cleaner than most of the pages out there using tables, but it could definitely be improved upon. that, plus the look of everything is just so tired. I figure it’s time for an change – an overhaul and redesign of the entire site. just got to figure out when I can get to it, since there’s a million other things to do.

I’d like to consolidate the photo gallery so it looks integrated with the blog. and eliminate the links section, or put them on a dedicated links page. I haven’t updated the rotating banner images in ages, so they can probably go away. all in the name of simplicity. of course, TSB will feature prominently in this new layout, whatever it may be.

any suggestions? what would you like to see?

peak

when it costs over $30 to fill the tank of your compact car, you know something’s wrong.

there’s been a lot of hoopla over the past few months (at least in the blogging world) about peak oil – the theory that worldwide oil production has reached its zenith, and will begin a steady decline in the years to come. the theory correctly predicted the dropoff in production by the us in the 70’s (and the corresponding shortage), not to mention the high fuel prices of today.
