one wrong turn

mace-face, po-lice chase;
has clarett fallen from grace?
hope it’s not the case.
maurice clarett: one wrong turn — that’ll be the title of his tv movie. so remember whose name goes on that check, espn ocho.
clarett truly has nothing left going for him, now that he’s been arrested once again, following a police chase:
Police then found an arsenal of weapons inside the SUV, including a loaded AK-47 rifle and three loaded handguns. A hatchet, clothing and an open bottle of vodka were also taken from the vehicle, Wayne reported.
all this because he lied about something he shouldn’t have 3 years ago – he had so little to gain, and so much to lose. after being kicked off the team for filing a false police report, he attempted to barge his way in to the nfl. when that failed, and he was cut from the broncos’ during training camp, he took to robbing random people for their “property”. at every step of the way, he lost more and more support… at this point, most people think of him not as a tragic figure, but as a liar and a thug.
“For him to carry guns and do stuff like that, there has to be more to the story,” Everett said. “He’s a good guy who’s had bad guidance, and listens sometimes to the wrong people.”
I used to believe this, too. but you can’t constantly blame other people for your actions – he made himself what he is today. every chance that clarett has had to turn things around, he’s made a bad decision, which led to yet another bad decision. he could’ve transferred to a junior college to wait out the draft instead of suing for entry, but he didn’t. he could’ve reached out to teammates, coaches, anyone who could’ve given him a positive direction, but he couldn’t be bothered.
the few remaining friends he has are still sticking with him, including a coach of the unfortunately named “mahoning valley hitmen”, who’s willing to help even with all the trouble he’s caused. hopefully he’s honestly interested in turning clarett’s life around, and not just out for the quick publicity. we’ll find out soon enough.
